Solar Excitement in Our Classroom!

Today we had a very special guest in our classroom!  Anthony Ducharme is an astonomer from Winnipeg who presented fascinating information to us about our solar system, constellations, black holes and comets. (Just to name a few!) He showed us real photos and videos of planets, comets and eclipses.

Here are a few comments from our students of what they thought of the presentation and/or what they learned.

One of the interesting things I learned is there are storms all over.  C.G.
I think Mr. Ducharme was awesome.  I learned that if the moon went in front of the sun, it would be black out.  B.M.
I learned there is more than one storm on Jupiter.  K.G.
I learned that a comet is coming! W.W.
I think Mr. Ducharme's presentation was AMAZING.  I learned that people think if you go into a black hole, you will time travel!  A.S.
I learned that an iPhone has more power than the Voyageur 1 and 2 spaceships. D.B.
I think it was really cool when Anthony told us about the ISON comet coming! A.H.
I learned that the North Star is called Polaris.  The gas found on Saturn's moon Titan, is the same gas that Tupperware is made out of!  M.D.
Anthony's presentation was cool.  I learned that the ISON comet will be visible on December 17th which is my birthday!  K.H.
Today I learned that on December 1 - 17, a comet is coming past Earth.  C.C.
